چکیده
Carbon nanotubes are molecules entirely made of carbon atoms. Owing to their special shape, they are extremely stiff but also very flexible. The electronic properties are determined by the exact symmetry of the nanotube lattice, resulting in either metallic or semiconducting behavior. Due to their small diameter, electronic motion is directed in the length direction of the nanotube, making them ideal systems to study e.g. one-dimensional transport phenomena.

Force- and light-controlled electrical transport characteristics of carbon nanotube 1D/2D bulk junctions
Pure carbon bulk junctions are fabricated based on carbon nanotube (CNT) macrostructures and their electrical transport characteristics are investigated. The planar 1D/2D strand-on-film (SOF) junctions show interesting forceand light-controlled transport behaviors. Considering the excellent chemical stability and good mechanical properties (strength, hardness and elasticity) of CNTs, the SOF ju...
متن کاملCarbon Nanotube “T Junctions”: Nanoscale Metal-Semiconductor-Metal Contact Devices
Stable “T junctions” of single-walled carbon nanotubes forming one of the smallest prototypes of microscopic metal-semiconductor-metal contacts are proposed. The structures have been found to be local minima of the total energy on relaxation with a generalized tight-binding molecular dynamics scheme. These quasi-2D junctions could be the building blocks of nanoscale tunnel junctions in a 2D net...
متن کاملTransport through crossed nanotubes
In order to study the electronic properties of single-walled carbon nanotube junctions we have fabricated several devices consisting of two crossed nanotubes with electrical leads attached to each end of each nanotube. We correlate the properties of the junctions with the properties of the individual nanotubes: metal–metal, metal–semiconductor, and semiconductor– semiconductor junctions are all...
متن کاملHigh-field transport and thermal reliability of sorted carbon nanotube network devices.
We examine the high-field operation, power dissipation, and thermal reliability of sorted carbon nanotube network (CNN) devices, with <1% to >99% semiconducting nanotubes. We combine systematic electrical measurements with infrared (IR) thermal imaging and detailed Monte Carlo simulations to study high-field transport up to CNN failure by unzipping-like breakdown. We find that metallic CNNs car...
متن کاملNanosoldering carbon nanotube junctions by local chemical vapor deposition for improved device performance.
The performance of carbon nanotube network (CNN) devices is usually limited by the high resistance of individual nanotube junctions (NJs). We present a novel method to reduce this resistance through a nanoscale chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. By passing current through the devices in the presence of a gaseous CVD precursor, localized nanoscale Joule heating induced at the NJs stimulate...
